Note from Thomas Perez Sr., the artist’s husband: “She was 17 when she drew that in order to apply for a Scholarship to the prestigious School of Visual Arts. Her Dad glued it to a piece of plywood and added a kickstand. She was awarded the Scholarship. We met shortly afterwards.”
